Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce for Jerk Chicken

Spicy Mango Pineapple Dipping Sauce

Posted by Dee
This super simple mango pineapple dipping sauce is the perfect example of how spicy food can be so delicious. The sweetness of the chunky mango helps to balance out the heat of the habanero peppers, and it makes for a perfect dipping sauce for chicken or pork satay skewers.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh mango, peeled and roughly chopped
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice
  • ½ medium red onion, roughly chopped
  • 3 stalks green onions, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 habanero pepper, seeded and roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp. fresh thyme leaves
  • 3 tbsp. dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • ½ inch knob of ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup fresh pineapple

Instructions

  • Add roughly chopped mango, pineapple, red onion, garlic, habanero pepper and ginger to food processor.
  • Pulse until the large chunks are relatively small but not a paste. If you like a smoother sauce you can pulse further.
  • Add pineapple juice, green onion, brown sugar, honey, thyme, salt and pepper to the processor. Pulse until thoroughly blended but still chunky.
  • Adjust any seasonings to your liking. Garnish with green onions.
  • Allow to chill for at least 20 minutes. Serve!

Notes

You can swap the habanero for milder ones like jalapeños, but if you want even greater spice don't hesitate to add in some extra!
