This pineapple mango habanero salsa is the perfect way to spice up your next meal. A favorite recipe of ours. The sweet flavor of the fruit helps balance out any heat from the hot peppers so it’s perfect not only as an ingredient in recipes but also on top of dishes like chicken or pork satay skewers! We developed this jerk sauce recipe specifically for our Jamaican Jerk Chicken. This sauce complements many Jamaican dishes. It’s also a great dip for chips and salsa for tacos! A flavor explosion that is so delicious! Your taste buds will thank you.

Use ripe mangos.
Mangos are a versatile fruit that can be used in many different ways. We prefer fresh, but you can also use frozen mangos in this recipe.
The best way to tell if a mango is ripe? Feel it! If you can gently squeeze the fruit and it gives slightly, then this favorite tropical treat has reached its peak. It will be soft but not too squishy – just right for cutting up with some cinnamon sugar, tajin or biting into without hesitation (and getting that sweet juice!).
How to Store Habanero Mango Pineapple Salsa
This recipe is great to make ahead. It’s one of those dishes that gets better as it chills allowing the flavors to mingle. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Jerk Chicken Dipping Sauce Ingredients
Fresh Mango & Pineapple – Make sure they are ripe. Feel free to use frozen mangos and pineapples.
Fresh Pineapple Juice – You can also use orange juice, lemon juice, lime juice or a combination of all!
Red Onion – We prefer red onions in the recipe but Vidalia or sweet onions would be yummy as well.
Green Onions – You can substitute these for chives.
Fresh Garlic Cloves – You can also use minced garlic or garlic paste.
Habanero Peppers – We actually prefer the spicy flavor or scotch bonnet peppers but we haven’t been able to find them locally. If your neighborhood supermarket doesn’t stock scotch bonnet chilis, try local farmers’ markets. If you prefer a medium heat use less than we suggest or substitute with a little bit of cayenne pepper. A little goes a long way!
Fresh Thyme Leaves – This recipe works best with all ingredients being fresh but you can substitute fresh thyme with dried thyme. Just be sure to use about half as much as fresh. Dried herbs are more potent than fresh herbs. Make a note that one tablespoon of fresh herbs is equivalent to about one teaspoon of dried herbs.
Dark Brown Sugar – You can also use light brown sugar, granulated white sugar or a sugar substitute such as Swerve and Stevia
Honey – The real stuff! If on a lower carb diet, feel free to use a sugar substitute.
Fresh Ginger – Again, we prefer fresh but jarred minced ginger and ginger paste works just as well.
Kosher Salt and Black Pepper to taste.
How to Make Spicy Mango Pineapple Dipping Sauce
Peel and roughly chop mango, pineapple, red onion, green onion and ginger.
Using gloves (these things are hot!), remove seeds from habanero pepper and roughly chop.
Add pineapple, mango, red onion, garlic, habanero pepper and ginger to food processor or high powered blender.
Pulse until the large chunks are relatively small but not a paste. If you like a smoother sauce you can pulse further. WE prefer a chunky sauce.
Add pineapple juice, green onion, brown sugar, honey, thyme, salt and pepper to the processor. Pulse until thoroughly blended but still chunky.
For best results, adjust any seasonings to your liking. Garnish with green onions. Store in covered bowl and allow to chill for at least 20 minutes. It’s even better the next day!
